Creating a BUZZ around climate change

My son was the recipient of a Youth Climate Action Fund grant, with support from Beaver Valley Outreach and Pollinate the Blue Mountains we led a pollinator engagement and education initiative for the Town of The Blue Mountains. Titled “Creating a BUZZ Around Climate Change,” the project aimed to build an umbrella campaign that raised awareness about the importance of pollinators through signage, art, and social media.

Community outreach included pop-up tents, educational handouts, and the distribution of native plants and seeds. The goal was to engage as many residents as possible, inviting them to learn, participate, and take ownership, ultimately raising awareness and getting more pollinator-friendly plants into the ground.

We designed, fabricated, and installed a box-sign installation on Arthur Street within the pollinator garden, along with a butterfly-wing sculpture created for photo opportunities. In Clarksburg, we painted and installed a mural, launched at an event attended by the Town’s Mayor. At Blue Mountain Resort, we added another box-sign installation and attached educational signage to the planters at the Summitview Restaurant at the top of the ski hill.

All installations included QR codes linking to a dedicated page on PollinateTBM.ca, and the overall campaign was supported with bilingual signage and brochures in both English and French.
