Blue Mountain Resort - Legacy Rock Sculpture

We were invited to design a sculpture for Blue Mountain Resort to honour long-service employees. The original ski lift towers—installed in 1960 and carefully preserved—provided the perfect foundation for a wrap-around sculptural intervention. From early concept development through fabrication and installation, we ensured the final outcome remained true to the original design intent. As the Corten steel naturally weathers, the surface will continue to deepen in colour, and new names will be added over time, allowing the piece to evolve alongside the community it celebrates.

The woven steel bands encircling the structure symbolize the many career paths and areas of expertise that have shaped Blue Mountain. Each band is distinct yet strengthened by the others. As they rise and intersect, they embody the way knowledge keepers support and guide new generations, illustrating how the collective impact of these journeys continues to elevate the mountain and the people who call it home.
